About Professional Service
Group of West Caldwell Professional Service Group of West Caldwell is the West Caldwell chapter of the network of
“Professional Service Groups” that exists throughout New Jersey. West Caldwell and the other “PSGs” operate
as a division of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development
(“NJLWD”), located on the internet at http://lwd.state.nj.us/labor/index.html.
The mission of all PSGs is “to provide staffing
assistance to employers, and job- seeking and job-placement support for
unemployed individuals”; therefore PSGs serve two constituencies: 1)
administrative, managerial, and technical professionals who are currently in
transition, and 2) employers in our area who are looking for qualified
professionals to fill vacancies. PSG
West Caldwell is staffed and managed by volunteer professionals who are
themselves in transition; advice and guidance is provided by an on-site NJLWD
facilitator. In early 2010 the West
Caldwell chapter was reorganized in order to function more effectively and to
better serve its constituencies. Two
major highlights of the reorganization include: ·
Committee
governance, designed to ensure that the business of the chapter is carried
out in an orderly fashion; each committee is dedicated to planning and
executing chapter activities in a designated area, such as Information
Technology; See the committees
·
A
Steering committee, which sets general direction and interfaces with NJLWD
and the Essex County One-Stop. Throughout
2010 PSG West Caldwell has been expanding its activities, programs, and
outreach. The centerpiece of this is a
comprehensive and innovative training program called “Getting Back to Work”. See the training We
also host weekly presentations by knowledgeable persons from PSG and from the
outside; recent topics have included LinkedIn, resume preparation, and
Microsoft Office applications. The PSG
newsletter, Strive, features
stories on PSG activities and on topics relevant to job seekers. See the newsletter. Members are kept advised of the
activities of the chapter and of their fellow members at weekly
meetings. See the meetings Future plans include an outreach to
employers and expansion of the PSG web site. PSG
West Caldwell, through its active, engaged members and the tireless work of many
volunteers, embraces our credo of “Professionals helping other professionals
to find employment”. We look to 2010
and beyond with eager anticipation, and look forward to continuing and
expanding our service to North Jersey! Contact Information Professional Service Group 730 Bloomfield Avenue (Essex County College) Room North 106 West Caldwell, NJ 07006 (973) 403-7725
